Jamma's support for The Wellness Society began at the launch stages in 2017 when founder Rebecca Marks established an online platform with the purpose of making self-help and mental health resources and tools available to a wider audience.


The wellbeing of communities and individuals across the planet is something that we here at Jamma feel very strongly about. Life is complex, and we all have many more challenges to deal with in today’s fast-paced world. What if there was a fast, straightforward and easy way to access tools and resources to help us cope with our responses to the pressures of modern life?

High quality self-help tools, available to all.

The Wellness Society is a social enterprise that sets out to bridge the gap for people who find long-term private therapy unaffordable yet are reluctant or unable to get help from overstretched mental health services. By providing a range of targeted self-help tools and resources for individuals, coaches and private practitioners, The Wellness Society delivers accessible, affordable support to manage mental health difficulties, anxiety and stress.

As well as providing resources for individuals, The Wellness Society also produces a series of toolkits for therapists and coaches to enhance their practice with a wide range of holistic and beautifully designed tools - for both their clients and for supporting their own mental wellbeing.

At the early stages of 2020’s COVID-19 pandemic, The Wellness Society produced the Coronavirus Anxiety Workbook. It was designed to provide much needed support for communities living through an unprecedented period of global uncertainty. The Workbook was a valuable tool that provided strategies and support for anyone experiencing heightened stress and anxiety.

The Wellness Society’s mission to make self-help resources easily accessible to individuals and practitioners was something that resonated strongly with Jamma International, and we were pleased to support this project through its launch stages.

The Wellness Society was founded in 2017 with Jamma’s support to provide access to high quality self-help, therapy, and coaching tools designed for individuals and practitioners.

The Khomani San are one of the last remaining groups of the indigenous people of South Africa. Jamma works with this neglected community to run their own primary school preparing the children for life in the nearest state school while ensuring that traditional knowledge and skills are transferred to the younger generations, enabling the San way of life to continue to develop.

Surrey-based Oakleaf Enterprise was founded to improve the lives of people managing mental ill-health and help them return to work. Through free skills training, counselling and support, this charity works closely with individuals with mental ill-health to foster confidence, reduce social isolation and build positive futures with the help of new skills and qualifications.

Approach

At Jamma, we believe that everyone should have access to the support networks and skills that help to secure their own positive and rewarding futures. We are proud to be supporting the work of Oakleaf Enterprise to help their clients with the skills, training and confidence to manage their mental health and return to work.



The wellbeing of communities is something that is extremely important to us at Jamma. With Oakleaf Enterprise, we were able to support mental health within our home county of Surrey. At Jamma, we look for forward-thinking organisations who bring an innovative mindset to the issues they face. For more than 25 years - long before mental health was so widely understood - Oakleaf has been focused on supporting some of the most vulnerable adults in the Surrey community to find a road to recovery from mental illness.

Working tirelessly to transform futures for adults and young people.

At Jamma, we believe in seeding growth and supporting change in the organisations we partner with. Through our funding, we were able to support a Fundraising and Partnerships position for Oakleaf Enterprise, enabling the organisation to move forward and generate momentum with their work with communities and supporters.

The Jamma-funded Fundraising and Partnerships position has resulted in an increase of publicity, support and funding for the organisation. It has also led to the strengthening of relationships between corporate and community groups and doubling the income of previous years while growing the positive reputation of the charity.

Some of those suffering from a mental illness do recover. They respond well to treatment and medication without too much damage to their emotional, social and working life. Oakleaf exists to help those people who are less fortunate and find their road to recovery more difficult. Finding and keeping a job is an important aspect of the recovery process and ensuring individuals get access to the right support and training is vital.



Oakleaf Enterprises empowers hundreds of individuals each year to create better futures for themselves, and was named ‘Charity of the Year’ at Surrey’s Business Awards 2019.

People with mental health needs have the second lowest employment rate of any disabled group, with only 28.5% securing long-term work, and those with mental ill-health are more vulnerable to the negative effects of unemployment.

We are proud to support the forward-thinking work of Oakleaf Enterprise and work with them to develop their expertise with new partnerships, generating momentum during challenging times. They pride themselves in restoring confidence and a sense of purpose for their clients within our home county. 

Jamma has been working together with Ten for Zen’s founders to develop a programme plan of new resources to provide free, easy-to-access information to help people across the UK live a more mindful life. Jamma’s mission is to develop a Life Skills programme and to ensure that these skills can be part of anyone’s daily self-care, building resilience and improving mental health and wellbeing.

In partnership with Ten for Zen we have built a plan to deliver an extensive array of tools to enable anyone, anywhere to experience the positive benefits of understanding how your mind works.

At Jamma, we work with communities across the world to strengthen the ties of shared identity and build meaningful frameworks of trust. We are delighted to be continuing to support Baynards Zambia Trust with their work to improve the lives and livelihoods of rural communities in Zambia.  

Baynards Zambia Trust (BZT) was founded in 1997 and supports interventions to help isolated Zambian communities become self-sufficient. Their current initiatives include providing solar power for schools, creating digital hubs for young people and putting in place technology to help farmers move beyond subsistence farming to sustainable futures.

Helping communities connect, build sustainable capacity and thrive

BZT works with the Zambian Rainbow Development Foundation, a national non-governmental organisation. Together, they support holistic interventions which span improving access to education, HIV and AIDS programmes, village banks, sustainable agriculture and community capacity building. Higher income from farming and village banks for these communities enable more children to stay at school for longer, while crop diversification among other things helps to support nutrition for those suffering from AIDS. All their interventions have direct community involvement and are designed to become self-supporting.

At Jamma, we are proud to support projects that deliver on their promises to empower communities, build sustainable capacity and focus on positive outcomes.

As part of our work with people, Jamma supports organisations and initiatives that are shaping new ways of living, learning and co-existing for communities across the planet.

Through our ten-year relationship, we’ve been delighted to see how BZT have built capacity into their projects, introducing communities to better, more sustainable methods of farming, water management and protection as well as taking action to build schools and education systems for the next generation.

Jamma’s work with people involves supporting organisations like Baynards Zambia Trust and initiatives that are shaping new ways of living, learning and co-existing.

Jamma has supported BZT for over 10 years, and we are proud to be continuing to support this focused and driven organisation. We value long term relationships with projects that align with our values and return real, measurable benefits to the communities they support.

The problems facing humanity are more complex, interconnected and urgent than ever before. The modern workplace needs people who can tackle these kinds of issues and make a real impact on the world. The current university system can’t evolve quickly enough, so we need a new solution.



At Jamma we welcome those who take an innovative approach to the world’s most pressing issues. The London Interdisciplinary School is a very unique way of providing education and connects bright minds with real world issues. The London Interdisciplinary School launches in 2021 and is supported by some of the UK’s top intellectuals, industry experts, government and corporations who clearly see the need for this type of further education in our society.

Teaching students the knowledge and skills to create the change they want to see.

The London Interdisciplinary School places a premium on teaching. They have brought together a diverse and outstanding group of educationalists, with a team that includes philosophers, epidemiologists, artists, journalists, behavioural scientists and mathematicians as well as professionals and entrepreneurs. The sharing of mental models from across the boundaries of expertise will create new and relevant modes of understanding and experiencing the world.

The London Interdisciplinary School will provide a fascinating and exciting challenge to traditional thinking about what a university degree should look like. The LIS founders see empowering students in research methods and skills as key in an age where factual knowledge is easy to come by but critical understanding and the creative generation of new knowledge is increasingly valued.

Jamma has been working together with Martin Stepek, co-founder of Ten for Zen to develop a delivery plan. Jamma's vision is to provide a programme of Life Skills to provide knowledge, tools, and support to enable anyone, anywhere to experience the positive benefits of living a mindful life through an understanding of basic brain science and the skills needed to understand the mind.  



The founders of Ten for Zen are experts in delivering authentic and life changing mindfulness tuition and have guided thousands towards a mindful life. We are delighted to have been working with Ten for Zen and benefitted from their experience. 

Raising national awareness of living a mindful life as a positive choice.

Working in partnership with Ten for Zen, Jamma has been developing a plan to deliver a programme of Life Skills to enable individuals of any age and background to gain an understanding of life skills and with this knowledge, move towards the life they want to live.

At Jamma, our philosophy is to amplify the positive impacts of projects through partnership. Ten for Zen’s aim is to make living a mindful life accessible for all, and reinforces our commitment to wellbeing.

Introducing any new habit, routine or behaviour takes time. Learning to live a mindful life is no different. Ten for Zen have been working with Jamma to design a delivery programme for new resources that will include an array of accessible learning materials and tools that will enable individuals everywhere to learn the basics of brain science at their own level and pace, and at times that are convenient for them. 

Jamma International's work with Ten for Zen supports their aim of significantly raising awareness of the techniques required to live a more mindful life, improving health and wellbeing for individuals anywhere and at any time.

RETURNAfrica operates a safari lodge and two trail camps in Pafuri located in the most northern part of the Kruger National Park, South Africa. After having been driven away from the area at gunpoint in the 1960s the Makuleke people do now, as a result of the South African land restitution process, own the land with freehold title.

Despite this, they continue to live in three villages some 60 km away from Parfuri. Through RETURNAfrica Jamma funds a Drop-in Centre in each village where disadvantaged children can go after school to get a cooked meal and be assisted with their homework. These centres cater for approximately 450 children each day.
