Jamma supports Transformational Business Network's (TBN) vision of helping entrepreneurs build impactful businesses and unlock financing. By providing training in key areas such as marketing and financial skills, TBN helps create jobs, relieve poverty, and improve livelihoods in East Africa.

Entrepreneurs can face significant obstacles in creating a successful business; limited access to finance and a lack of business skills or suitable mentors being examples. By advocating with governments and international donors on behalf of entrepreneurs, building business capacity, and connecting purpose-driven enterprises with early-stage finance, TBN provides key support to businesses seeking positive change within their communities.

TBN organises summits and alumni events to foster learning, discussion, and connections between entrepreneurs, local and international investors, and NGOs from around the world. Small and medium sized African businesses are given the opportunity to connect with the right investors and take full advantage of their long-term potential.

Olivelink is a healthcare service provider located within the slums of Nairobi, Kenya, and was first started by Josephine Suleiman in 2013. Olivelink’s mission is to provide affordable and high-quality healthcare services to low-income patients and families in Kenya.

TBN provided mentorship that helped grow Olivelink’s business model and introduced Josephine Suleiman to global investors that enabled financing of a second clinic, allowing families in Nairobi’s Tassia slum access to affordable health care.

The Cape Leopard Trust is an active predator conservation working group, established in 2004 and the leading authority on leopard conservation in Western Cape, South Africa. Its mission is to use research as a tool for conservation, finding solutions to human-wildlife conflict and inspiring interest in the environment through an interactive and dynamic environmental education programme.



Their holistic approach to leopard conservation combines impact-driven research, applied conservation, community engagement and environmental education to protect leopards and the landscapes they depend on, as well as advocating for the protection of broader biodiversity and uplifting and capacitating local communities.

Current objectives for the Cape Leopard Trust are to collate and consolidate all existing leopard data from across the Western Cape Province. This will be used to identify knowledge gaps, inform further field studies, and direct conservation efforts. Conservation efforts focus on quantifying and addressing identified threats to leopards, such as human-wildlife conflict and prey-based depletion through illegal snaring. Equally as important as scientific research is education and social development. The Cape Leopard Trust Environmental Education Programme was established in 2009 with the aim of providing children and adults with quality experiences that teach them more about the wilderness and themselves.

Educating and empowering local people, young and old, to think differently about protecting natural resources by connecting them with nature and instilling an attitude of reverence, wonder and respect for leopards and the environment.

Leopards have survived across the landscapes of the Western Cape where other large carnivores have not. They continue to be admired and persecuted at the same time. An emerging threat is illegal hunting with wire snares. The key drivers of this are hunger, the use of animal parts in traditional medicine and hunting for skins.



The Cape Leopard Trust’s approach is to engage both commercial and subsistence farmers, local communities and the general public in their conservation efforts, with potential for local skills development.

KHOMANI SAN SCHOOL

When the Kalahari Gemsbok National Park was created during the 1930s, the livelihoods and freedom of movement of some of South Africa’s last remaining first peoples, the Khomani San, were curtailed. The new park was fenced in and the inhabitants driven away from their ancestral land. Wildlife was better cared for than people.

In 1999, the Khomani San community was given ownership of a number of farms outside the small settlement Andriesvale where most of them lived at the time. They also secured access and use rights to some areas inside what is now the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park. Jamma works with this neglected community to run their own primary school preparing children for life in a diverse school environment while ensuring that traditional knowledge and skills are transferred to the younger generations, enabling the way of life for the Khomani San to continue to develop in today's demanding society.

The holistic Khomani San school programme aims to integrate an up to date curriculum with traditional knowledge to give these children the very best of both and provide them with the life skills and cultural dignity they have missed for so long. 

In an early intervention, Jamma assisted the Khomani San to stock up one of their farms, the 5,000-hectare Erin, with wildlife and turn it into a successful commercial game harvesting business.

Gemsbok Kalahari Khomani San

The Khomani San are one of the last remaining groups of the indigenous San people of South Africa. During the creation of the Kalahari Gemsbok National Park, much of their movement as hunter-gatherers on their traditional land was curtailed and many members of the community were dispersed. In 1995, the Khomani San lodged a claim for the restitution of their ancestral land, and in 1999, they were granted ownership over a number of farms nearby the settlement of Andriesvale and adjacent to the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park.

Establishing a junior school where children can receive culturally sensitive good education will enable them to enter senior school equipped to succeed.

The provision of services to this remote area is slow and the community has been severely neglected, with limited access to education, health care, justice systems, and income generating opportunities. A lack of adequate infrastructure results in the physical and virtual isolation of this community. 

Through the Khomani San School project, Jamma is putting educational support in place for the benefit of the next generation.

The San developed a unique knowledge of nature, including the healing properties of plants. If this traditional knowledge is not nurtured, what is now left may be lost forever.

Jamma is supporting Resource Africa to bring a voice to these communities and tell the story of how the equilibrium of sustainable wildlife management and guardianship can be supported and maintained.



Many rural people in southern Africa share their daily life with wildlife. Unfortunately this can negatively impact on those communities, with elephants breaking through boundaries, marauding and eating vital crops, lions and leopards killing livestock and, in the worst cases, wild animals injuring or even killing people.

Respecting rights, resources and livelihoods.

At Jamma we support Resource Africa to engage these communities as co-dependents in conservation and in the benefits that can be derived from it. Sustainable, community-based wildlife management and enterprise can benefit not only the rural communities and their future generations, but also help to conserve and support Africa’s wildlife habitats and ecosystems.

An important part of our work with Resource Africa is to advocate for dialogue and connection between the perspectives of local communities with policy making processes at international, regional and national levels.

We help to provide tools, strategies and programmes to empower communities to manage their land, water and wildlife in order to use these resources in a sustainable way to improve their lives and the lives of their children and grandchildren. We help to build and support strong transparent governance and leadership, enabling the development of new economic enterprises within communities, such as tourism and community-owned game harvesting operations.

We have a deep understanding of the cultural and social structures of the communities we deal with and bring our values of integrity, community and courage to all our interactions.

It is our experience that policy is most likely to lead to sustainable environmental management when it strengthens the rights and enhances the livelihoods and wellbeing of those immediately dependent upon it.

For many young creatives, a lack of financial resources, opportunities or network connections mean that a career in their chosen industry is out of reach. The Photography Foundation believes that talent and motivation should be more important than who you know, or where you come from, and it’s their mission to make that a reality.

Through training programmes and community outreach, they remove barriers to entry and open up photography careers by welcoming in the next generation of diverse creative talent. Jamma is proud to support Shoreditch-based The Photography Foundation to help make society a little more equal for tomorrow’s creative visionaries.

Making society a little more equal for tomorrow’s creatives.

Over the course of three months, The Photography Foundation’s trainees are given the tools and education they need to develop the foundational technical skills for a career in photography. Through professional training from industry teachers and hands-on workshops with creative experts, trainees learn the basics, as well as finding the freedom and inspiration to develop their own creative voice.

All trainees have the opportunity to hone their photography skills at The Photography Foundation’s professional photography studio, turning it into their own creative playground while they figure out their own personal photographic style and strengths. Trainees assist on commercial shoots at The Photography Foundation, and work on commercial briefs from brands to put theory into practice.

Drawing on significant data gathered for two decades, Elephants Alive deliver research solutions that enable a greater understanding of the complex relationships that elephants have with each other and their surroundings, including the people with whom they share their world.

Promoting greater understanding and harmonious co-existence with nature’s giants.

Elephants Alive’s extensive long-term elephant tracking datasets provide information on landscape use, habitat expansion and perceived and real threats to elephants. Since 1998, Elephants Alive have deployed 90 GPS collars in 135 collaring operations, allowing the team to study and track individually identified elephants, monitor population dynamics and understand the motivation behind elephant movements from core conservation areas such as the Kruger National Park into protected areas along its borders.

Elephants Alive strives to put the science on the table in order to better protect elephants and ensure their survival by creating awareness and informing decision makers.

Jamma intend to support Elephants Alive on a long term basis in their mission to study the impact of human-elephant-conflict and develop successful mitigation strategies to foster positive human-elephant interactions.

In some areas human-elephant-conflict has arisen where elephant populations are either damaging infrastructure by fence breakages, threatening human security or are found to impact on iconic large tree species which are considered of ecological and aesthetic importance to reserve managers, tourists and landowners. Elephants Alive are testing eight different mitigation strategies to increase the survival rates of large trees, including using beehives as a deterrent.

At Jamma, we believe that everyone should have access to the support networks and skills that help to secure their own positive and rewarding futures. We are proud to be supporting the work of Oakleaf Enterprise to help their clients with the skills, training and confidence to manage their mental health and return to work.



The wellbeing of communities is something that is extremely important to us at Jamma. With Oakleaf Enterprise, we were able to support mental health within our home county of Surrey. At Jamma, we look for forward-thinking organisations who bring an innovative mindset to the issues they face. For more than 25 years - long before mental health was so widely understood - Oakleaf has been focused on supporting some of the most vulnerable adults in the Surrey community to find a road to recovery from mental illness.

Working tirelessly to transform futures for adults and young people.

At Jamma, we believe in seeding growth and supporting change in the organisations we partner with. Through our funding, we were able to support a Fundraising and Partnerships position for Oakleaf Enterprise, enabling the organisation to move forward and generate momentum with their work with communities and supporters.

The Jamma-funded Fundraising and Partnerships position has resulted in an increase of publicity, support and funding for the organisation. It has also led to the strengthening of relationships between corporate and community groups and doubling the income of previous years while growing the positive reputation of the charity.

Some of those suffering from a mental illness do recover. They respond well to treatment and medication without too much damage to their emotional, social and working life. Oakleaf exists to help those people who are less fortunate and find their road to recovery more difficult. Finding and keeping a job is an important aspect of the recovery process and ensuring individuals get access to the right support and training is vital.

People with mental health needs have the second lowest employment rate of any disabled group, with only 28.5% securing long-term work, and those with mental ill-health are more vulnerable to the negative effects of unemployment.

We are proud to support the forward-thinking work of Oakleaf Enterprise and work with them to develop their expertise with new partnerships, generating momentum during challenging times. They pride themselves in restoring confidence and a sense of purpose for their clients within our home county.

At Jamma, we work with communities across the world to strengthen the ties of shared identity and build meaningful frameworks of trust. We are delighted to be continuing to support Baynards Zambia Trust with their work to improve the lives and livelihoods of rural communities in Zambia.  

Baynards Zambia Trust (BZT) was founded in 1997 and supports interventions to help isolated Zambian communities become self-sufficient. Their current initiatives include providing solar power for schools, creating digital hubs for young people and putting in place technology to help farmers move beyond subsistence farming to sustainable futures.

Helping communities connect, build sustainable capacity and thrive

BZT works with the Zambian Rainbow Development Foundation, a national non-governmental organisation. Together, they support holistic interventions which span improving access to education, HIV and AIDS programmes, village banks, sustainable agriculture and community capacity building. Higher income from farming and village banks for these communities enable more children to stay at school for longer, while crop diversification among other things helps to support nutrition for those suffering from AIDS. All their interventions have direct community involvement and are designed to become self-supporting.

At Jamma, we are proud to support projects that deliver on their promises to empower communities, build sustainable capacity and focus on positive outcomes.

As part of our work with people, Jamma supports organisations and initiatives that are shaping new ways of living, learning and co-existing for communities across the planet.

Through our ten-year relationship, we’ve been delighted to see how BZT have built capacity into their projects, introducing communities to better, more sustainable methods of farming, water management and protection as well as taking action to build schools and education systems for the next generation.

Jamma’s work with people involves supporting organisations like Baynards Zambia Trust and initiatives that are shaping new ways of living, learning and co-existing.

Cape Leopard Trust helps to ensure the long-term survival of leopard populations in Western Cape, South Africa by promoting peaceful coexistence and the protection of landscapes, empowered by scientific research, positive community partnerships, education and advocacy.

Their mission is to use research as a tool for conservation, finding solutions for human-wildlife conflict and inspiring interest in the environment through a dynamic environmental education programme.

The problems facing humanity are more complex, interconnected and urgent than ever before. The modern workplace needs people who can tackle these kinds of issues and make a real impact on the world. The current university system can’t evolve quickly enough, so we need a new solution.



At Jamma we welcome those who take an innovative approach to the world’s most pressing issues. The London Interdisciplinary School is a very unique way of providing education and connects bright minds with real world issues. The London Interdisciplinary School launches in 2021 and is supported by some of the UK’s top intellectuals, industry experts, government and corporations who clearly see the need for this type of further education in our society.

Teaching students the knowledge and skills to create the change they want to see.

The London Interdisciplinary School places a premium on teaching. They have brought together a diverse and outstanding group of educationalists, with a team that includes philosophers, epidemiologists, artists, journalists, behavioural scientists and mathematicians as well as professionals and entrepreneurs. The sharing of mental models from across the boundaries of expertise will create new and relevant modes of understanding and experiencing the world.

The London Interdisciplinary School will provide a fascinating and exciting challenge to traditional thinking about what a university degree should look like. Their curriculum, developed around real-world problems will be unique in UK higher education. Wrapped around and supporting the approaches to tackling these problems, will be an education in a strong suite of research and methodological tools.




The LIS founders see empowering students in research methods and skills as key in an age where factual knowledge is easy to come by but critical understanding and the creative generation of new knowledge is increasingly valued.

Resource Africa is an international charity with the mission of ensuring that the basic human right to sustainable use of wildlife and natural resources can be exercised by communities and rural people in southern Africa.

Jamma is supporting Resource Africa to bring a voice to rural communities living alongside wildlife to tell the story of how the equilibrium of sustainable wildlife management and guardianship can be supported and maintained.

The vision of Jamma International is the wellbeing of the planet and its people, we feel passionate about supporting projects that will empower people to improve their wellbeing. We know how to take care of our body but we know very little about how our brain works. If you understand how the brain works, you have the ability to change your behaviour. The first project in Life Skills being developed will focus on the Brain, how it creates our reality and affects our behaviour. Not in a detailed brain science way, but in a way that can help us understand how little the brain has changed since cave men and how this can cause a lot of suffering in todays life.
